The Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ) has applauded Mopani Copper Mine Ltd for not laying off any mine workers prior to the newly introduced mining tax regime.
EAZ acclaimed Mopani for the mature step taken to engage in a beneficial dialogue with government as a show of its commitment to supporting job preservation and other social needs in Zambia.
According to Zambia Reports, EAZ has urged other mining companies to imitate Mopani and support the government’s initiative to shore up revenues needed for investment and economic development.
EAZ Board Secretary, Mutisunge Zulu alleged that Mopani had taken a more progressive stance by embracing dialogue with government and the unions.
Zambia is among the many preferred countries for investment around the globe.
