Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) has agreed to restore power to Glencore’s Mopani Copper Mines.
The deal was reached after lengthy consultation to restore full power supply to the mine from Wednesday, the president’s office said.
Amos Chanda, Presidential Spokesman said details of the agreement facilitated by government will be finalised over a six-week period.
The power utility company CEC buys power from the state-owned electricity company and sells it to mines, cut supply to Mopani to 94 megawatts (MW) from 130 MW after a dispute over new tariffs.
The deadlock has affected several stakeholders including employees and contractors.
