Patriot Resources is rapidly shifting its Zambian foothold from a single discovery into a broader corridor-scale copper play, extending the prospective footprint of its Tonic discovery to 5.5 kilometres and defining two new drill-ready targets along the highly prospective Mumbwa-Kitumba trend.
Recent ground magnetics and induced polarisation surveys have expanded the exploration envelope southeast of Tonic, delineating two priority zones of Block 1 and Block 2 within a 163 hectare geophysical footprint. The emerging interpretation points to a structurally controlled, multi-target system rather than an isolated occurrence.
Managing Director Dominic Duggan said the company is now building scale around its initial discovery. “Extending our geophysics programme from the Tonic footprint has identified two new targets within the Mumbwa-Kitumba corridor. We are establishing a pipeline of copper opportunities alongside the discovery, within one of Zambia’s most prospective and rapidly evolving copper belts,” explained Duggan.
Block 2, located 3km southeast of Tonic, is centred on a syenite host with coincident magnetic structures and strong chargeability anomalies, suggesting sulphide-bearing shear zones with potential for copper-silver mineralisation. A further 2.5km along strike, Block 1 presents a more complex geological setting, combining intrusive and sedimentary units with alteration indicative of hydrothermal fluid flow.
The geological signature across all zones points toward iron-oxide copper-gold affinities, reinforcing the broader regional context. The Mumbwa-Kitumba corridor, which hosts Sinomine Resource Group’s Kitumba deposit, is increasingly recognised as a significant IOCG province. Initial drilling at Tonic has already delivered shallow copper-silver-zinc-cobalt mineralisation, providing early validation of the system. With most of the geophysical anomalies still untested, the company is preparing follow-up reverse circulation and diamond drilling campaigns.
The proximity to established infrastructure, including the Kitumba development, adds a strategic dimension. For Patriot, the shift from early-stage discovery to a corridor-scale opportunity marks a decisive step towards defining a potentially scalable copper system.
