The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) is facilitating for some Zambian firms to showcase their products at the scheduled 2019 China International Import Expo (CIIE).
The China International Import Expo is providing a platform for firms to show case their products, network with a large constituent of international buyers and sellers from all over the world.
Other benefits include creating partnerships and joint ventures with investors, negotiation of deals and sales contracts through business to business meetings and match making.
According to the media release by ZDA Communications Manager and Public Relations, Faith Musonda, 12 Zambian companies will be given market access to over 3,600 firms around the world with intended trading volume of USD$ 57.83 billion as per last year’s event.
“During last year’s CIIE, ZDA facilitated for six companies to showcase their products generating sales contracts worth US $ 92 million. This year, the number has doubled to 12 companies, mostly SMEs from the handicrafts, gemstones, animal products and agro-processing subsectors,” Musonda said.
Musonda added that companies include Osumbo General Dealers, Little Walk Enterprises, Ginuwine General Dealers, Cowrays Enterprises and Barlogems Limited.
“Their product lines include; Gemstones, wooden and copper crafts, malachite jewelry and crafts as well as textile products.”
Meanwhile,the Zambia Development Agency Acting Director General Matongo Matamwandi revealed that the Agency is targeting to generate a higher value of sales contracts out of this year’s Expo, based on the doubled number of local companies participating with their unique, diversified and competitive products being marketed.
Zambia has been conferred as Guest Country of Honour at this year’s CIIE and accorded a national pavilion to showcase trade and investment opportunities.
The Honourable Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry has been invited to lead the Zambian delegation.
ZDA will be working with representatives from the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry to ensure maximum trade benefit and networking for Zambia during the Expo.
The China International Import Expo is scheduled for Shanghai, China, from 5th to 10th November, 2019.
